Preaching in a favela

Powerful night tonight in the flavela Rio das Pedras. A favela is an illegal neighborhood (aka slum) that is monitored by illegal militia. There is nothing legal about it. This one has 50,000 people. Saw a 13 year old w/ a new baby. Streets covered in garbage and sewage. Neighboring houses burned down last week after two gas canisters blew. Honored to preach the gospel at a small poor Presbyterian church there tonight. One man received Christ. Jesus was made much of. It was humbling and gut-wrenching.
