Desiring the Rule of God

Taking up one’s cross does not mean assuming burdens. The cross is not a burden but an instrument of death. The taking of the cross means the death of self, of personal ambition and self-centered purpose. In the place of selfish attainment, however altruistic and and noble, one is to desire alone the rule of God.
